Wind Blew and Siding Flew (onto the house)

Jennifer Whitlock, The HelpDesk Company

Mar 20, 2008

I had high expectations as I made my way to Angus Road this morning.  Although I’ve done a lot of volunteer work for RIchmond Habitat over the years, I had never actually worked on the construction side.  We had great weather (although the occassional gust of wind made standing on the top scaffolding interesting at times) and great volunteers.  Jerry, our site supervisor, had a great sense of humor and made us all feel like we had something to contribute.  Volunteers ranged from their 30’s to their late 60’s.  About half of our volunteers were individuals who signed up on their own and the other half represented a local networking group of area business owners.  We were even fortunate to have a future homeowner join us.  Thanks Tamika for putting some of our sweat equity hours in on the Women’s Build house.  We look forward to helping you on yours!
